With inner stillness
Any outer location -
Becomes holy shrine.

I choose to stand on my deck at various times through the day. Almost invariably early morning before the sun has risen above the hills to the east and again just before the sun sets behind the hills to the west, I go to the deck which rises above the land to take survey – at that time taking a quiet breath or two – and looking out over the land, feeling the peace rolling off of the hills.
I have made a friend with a little winged one who is often about and seems to choose the same branch of an olive tree to perch on. She has chosen the olive branch in much the same way I have chosen the deck. She is a lovely spritely hummingbird. I am pretty sure she is watching me just as I watch her. Sometimes I will sing greeting to her. I am not sure how she feels about my human voice – however she is attentive and respectful. Then she will take off visiting the flowering plants in the area or the hummer feeder - I have put up for her and her friends.
She reminds me of the power which comes in choosing the same spot from which to seek and contact peace.

It is suggested that through our day we ever keep turning toward God. Having a prayer/meditation β€˜spot’ – an olive branch to sit on – so to speak, is a good thing. However, here is an open secret; though a regular spot can be a virtue, there is a location each of us carries with us throughout every day of our life. It holds the Divine Polestar / spiritual eye. It is found with eyes closed and focus uplifted to the point between the eyebrows. Taking the pathway of stillness and silence we will surely find our way home. No matter where we are physically, we can simultaneously sit on that peaceful olive branch and survey the canyon, hills and sky of the real β€œGod’s country.”

β€œβ€¦.. we should face whatever life places in our path
and do the best we can to somehow get through it–all
the while keeping the mind steadfast on that Divine Polestar.”
