As a child, my mother would limit my book reading. I was only allowed to check out 6 books every 2 weeks from the library. I had thought it a library rule. I did not realize it was MOMS RULE for me personally. I remember as an adult going into the El Segundo Library to check out books and I could not seem to limit it to 6. I went up to the counter and asked, β€œIs there any way you can make an exception and allow me to check out more than 6 books, I can not limit the choices to only 6 this time?” The librarian looked at me quizzically noting, β€œThere is no rule limiting the number of books you can check out.” I had to laugh to myself with this revelation. All those years !!! Thanks mom for making sure I did not spend too much time in my head. I still read daily: science (especially the healing arts) – essays on nature –a bit of fiction (of course) - great literature and poetry – words of the Spiritual Masters.
With gratitude for the written word.
