A few days ago, I was reading xerox copies of original land ownership documents for the area I live in above the Mission Canyon. In the 1890s when the document was created the hill on which my home rests was called “Los Lomas Feliz” – The Happy Hills - an appropriate name and an accurate name. Being HERE is always respite. My daughter Crystal, when coming up the hill for a visit, invariably take a moment – pauses – turns to face the open land – and then verbalizes her sense of the peace and beauty of the land.
Two of my grands – the twins – are here with me for a week. Quickly, they have picked up on and settled into the peace of the land. Just as the sun was setting last night, we walked to the high point in the hills and surveyed the peaceful and happy hills. The scent of Artemisia californica and other sages carried peace on the air and into our heart centers. Intellect was set aside as we dwelt in the timeless now. Tawanci / One Mind and One Heart. It was good.

This land naturally lends itself to peaceful introspection and prayer. With gratitude for the land and those that live on and care for the land. En-joying the spirit of peace that pervades throughout the land. With gratitude for the opportunity to share this with the Kai and Keira.
