Pressed together-
A million years in making.
Fissure - and now - bloom.

My mountain home has abundant sedimentary shale rock, formed by massive pressure over millennia…. And even these grandfather stones that formed over millennia at some point becomes cracked and starts to break down. With the cracking of the stone I photographed, it is now possible to be home to a tenacious little plant who clings to the rock’s side, and then the plant sends her roots into a fissure in the stone establishing a sure foothold. The stone is beginning to break apart and die or maybe something else is really happening.

Considering the microcosm via Quantum Physics … scientists tell us that in observing quantum movement occurring in electrons traveling between the atomic layers of a material. Instead of travelling from the top to the bottom layer through the middle, the electrons were caught disappearing (dying?) from the top layer and reappearing (birthing?) in the bottom a fraction of a second later - with no trace of them existing in between.

... considering
microcosm being a reflection of the macrocosm ....

“Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.” ― Albert Einstein

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” ― Albert Einstein
