Ruminating on St. Patrick and his Heart of Green:
The color of the pure heart is green – the color of the hills of Ireland the same green. The Anahata or heart chakra, from the Sanskrit means "pure – clean – without stain".
Patrick who was originally brought to Ireland as a slave at age 16 labored there for many years. He then escaped and after many more years of prayer, meditation and purification was guided to return to Ireland. With his return he brought a heart overflowing in love for the people and the land.
Perhaps the time of ‘slavery’ for young Patrick was the beginning of the creation of true freedom for him as well. The center of the heart chakra has 2 opposing triangles held in unity – I wonder if perhaps a juxtaposition of opposites might not have grown in Patrick also. Then the seeds for being in true center with The Christ may have been nurtured - in that outer environment of what some would call slavery the inner world of atonement with the heart of The Christ was being awakened.
Each of us are given harsh experiences to live thru and endure. We often do not know why. However, with a good heart and the endurance to go the distance, it is my prayer that a balance may be found wherein each of us may find the way through.

Offered here-
the last 2 stanzas of a prayer written by St. Patrick –
known as
“Patrick’s Breastplate”
Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort,
Christ in the chariot seat,
Christ on the deck,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort,
Christ in the chariot seat,
Christ on the deck,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe in the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.”
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe in the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.”
