TODAY IS WORLD WATER DAY

☁️ 🌧 🌧

Mni’ comes to us from the Lakota People of Turtle Island. Roughly speaking it translates as ‘water’. However, it is so much more than that. It is Mni’ that brings life to all The Mother Earth and the real people understand this without needing many words explanation.

Today the world celebrates "the day of Water".

Today with gratitude Southern California receives much needed water to bring us out of drought – meanwhile we simultaneously watch the land nearby so recently ravaged by what has come to be called The Thomas Fire (for Thomas Aquinas College area where the fire was first detected). Then that same land that had been burned by the fire recieved the massive flood and debris flow of early January which took many lives and destroyed the homes of many.

As I wrote the paragraph above - and was asking for balance - I heard the Wakinyans /ThunderBeings call out in response to the cries and prayers of the people of the earth.

Now – great rains are falling – deluge. It is 436am where I sit above Mission Canyon. Though in a warm and cozy home tucked away – simultaneous – there are many of us sitting in the Womb of The Great Mother. The fire is burning in the pit and the stones are hot. 7 stones have been brought into the heart of the Mother. The first dipper has been placed with gentle love on the stones. We take into our center Grandfather’s Breath and it permeates all.

With thank you to Our Mother who sustains us. With thank you to Mni’ who is the blood of Our Mother. Asking for balance and perfect unfolding. We place ourselves in your care.

Photographer David Littschwager captured this amazing shot
of a single drop of seawater magnified 25 times to reveal an entire ecosystem
of crab larva, diatoms, bacteria, fish eggs, zooplankton, and even worms.
